Direct-to-Film (DTF) printing is a process where a design is printed onto a specialized PET film using water-based inks. A heat-melt adhesive powder is applied to the wet print, cured, and then heat-pressed onto the garment.
Unlike screen printing or DTG, DTF requires minimal setup, supports complex multi-color artwork, and works seamlessly on a wide variety of fabrics, including cotton, polyester, blends, and nylon. It is an ideal printing strategy for both single-piece orders and small-to-medium production runs.
DTF ink is formulated specifically for film application and transfer technology. Combined with an adhesive powder backing, DTF inks deliver high stretchability, exceptional color depth, and long-lasting quality on light or dark textiles.
Supports high-resolution printing with smooth gradients, sharp edges, and rich photographic details on any fabric color.
The transfer bonds firmly to the fabric, making the prints highly resistant to cracking, stretching, peeling, and repeated washing.
Unlike standard water-based inks, DTF inks transfer easily onto hard-to-print materials such as 100% polyester, leather, canvas, and synthetic blends.
Print a single custom shirt or order in bulk. DTF provides a cost-effective solution without setup fees or screen limits.
White ink underbases ensure bright, vivid visuals even on dark or black garments.
The finished print moves naturally with the fabric without feeling stiff or heavy.
DTF printing involves printing a digital image onto a specialized transfer film, applying a thermo-adhesive powder, curing it, and heat-pressing the image directly onto the garment.
DTG prints ink directly into the fabric fibers (best for 100% cotton), whereas DTF prints onto a film transfer first. This allows DTF to work on virtually any fabric type or color with greater elasticity and color vibrancy.
DTF works well on almost all materials, including 100% cotton, polyester, cotton-poly blends, nylon, canvas, and fleece.
